Crockett says she's supporting Talarico's Senate bid despite focus on down-ballot races
Rep. Jasmine Crockett asserts she has endorsed fellow Texas Democrat James Talarico repeatedly, claiming her down-ballot campaign focus will ultimately benefit his Senate campaign.
What happened
During a stop in Houston on the first day of early voting Monday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett stated she is supporting James Talarico's Texas Senate bid. Crockett said she has endorsed Talarico "100 times" and argued that her focus on down-ballot races will ultimately help him. Talarico defeated Crockett in a prior contest.
Context
Crockett's statement appears to be a response to questions about whether her down-ballot focus might limit her support for Talarico's Senate campaign. Her public insistence on endorsement and support suggests potential criticism or scrutiny regarding her involvement in the race. The prior defeat of Crockett by Talarico adds dimension to their current working relationship.
What's disputed
The extent and nature of Crockett's actual campaign support for Talarico is not clarified in this excerpt, nor is it clear what specific criticism prompted her statement.
