What happened

Sean 'Diddy' Combs, 56, was transferred from Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania on Friday. The Federal Bureau of Prisons cited privacy, safety, and security reasons for the move but declined to specify details. Combs' spokesman characterized the transfer between two low-security facilities as a decision made with safety and security in mind. The transfer came approximately two weeks after NBC News reported that Combs had access to mobile phones, liquor, and other contraband at Fort Dix, as well as allegations that he paid inmates to perform personal services for him and was involved in two fights. A prison union official told NBC the move was due to disruptive behavior and causing trouble.

Context

Combs was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months for two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, following a jury trial where two ex-girlfriends testified he abused them and coerced them into unwanted sexual encounters. He was acquitted of two more serious charges—sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. NBC reported that Combs lost 41 days of good conduct credit, pushing his scheduled release date from January 2028 to March 2, 2028. FCI Allenwood Low houses approximately 1,044 inmates, significantly smaller than Fort Dix's population of more than 4,200 across two campuses. Combs has filed an appeal asking an appeals court to overturn his conviction and release him from prison; arguments were heard in April but a decision has not yet been issued.

What's disputed

The Federal Bureau of Prisons declined to comment on reports of contraband access, personal service arrangements, fights, or disciplinary sanctions. Combs' spokesman did not comment on the NBC reports regarding his living conditions at Fort Dix.
