What happened

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) on Monday criticized President Trump for his recent behavior regarding the Russia-Ukraine war. Bacon stated that Trump is "absolutely disgraceful," "morally blind" on the conflict, has "pitched his lot in with the dictator and the war criminal," and is being "harsh and undermining the democracy" of Ukraine.

Context

This statement reflects internal Republican division over U.S. posture toward Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Bacon's criticism targets Trump's rhetorical alignment with Russia and his approach toward Ukraine, framing the issue as one of moral clarity regarding authoritarian aggression and democratic values.
