What happened

During a Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary stream, Nintendo announced that its Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 will launch on November 5th. The remake, first teased in June, features modernized graphics, free camera movement, new mechanics like "threads of time" for navigation guidance, and the ability to hum tunes instead of playing them via controller. Link can now jump using a button press. Producer Eiji Aonuma described the remake as "a faithful interpretation using modern technologies." This will be the first Zelda release exclusive to Switch 2. Nintendo also confirmed the live-action Legend of Zelda movie will release on April 30th, 2027, and announced a second Direct stream for September 9th at 10AM ET focused on Switch 2 games launching in late 2026.
