Plex integrates Fandango ticketing to monetize movie discovery
The media server company is leveraging its content-discovery platform to drive theater ticket sales through a partnership with Fandango.

What happened
Plex announced a partnership with Fandango to display movie theater ticketing options on Plex title pages for films currently playing in theaters, allowing users to click through to purchase tickets. Starting immediately for US users, the integration includes attribution tracking through Kochava to provide studios and advertisers visibility into how campaigns translate into ticket sales. Fandango operates ticketing for 31,000 movie theater screens in the US and will use data from Plex's streaming service—which reports over 100 million monthly user decisions—to gain insight into audience preferences and viewing patterns across platforms.
Context
Plex is expanding beyond its original media server software business into content monetization. By connecting its access to user viewing patterns and movie searches to Fandango's ticketing infrastructure, the partnership creates a direct pathway from streaming discovery to theater attendance, while giving studios and advertisers measurable data linking their campaigns to actual ticket sales. The arrangement allows Fandango to tap into Plex's understanding of consumer movie interest at the moment of active consideration, rather than relying solely on its own ticketing data.
