Apple Releases iOS 27.2 With Apple Pencil Support for iPhone Duo
Apple's latest software update brings stylus support and new AI-driven features to its foldable device.

What happened
Apple released iOS 27.2, adding Apple Pencil support to the iPhone Duo as the company had previously said would happen. The update includes an "Edge Light" feature to illuminate the user's face during video calls and enables dual-camera capture in group FaceTime calls. iOS 27.2 also adds Siri AI-suggested actions in Messages with expanded language support (French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish), integrates Google's SynthID AI watermark in Photos and Image Playground, introduces user profiles on Apple TV, restructures the Apple Podcasts app's queue system, and enables dual camera capture for group FaceTime calls. Concurrent updates were released for macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and HomePod 27.2.
Context
The iPhone Duo, Apple's first foldable device, comes with a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer screen with revamped iOS 27 controls designed to work across both screens. Apple Pencil support fulfills a prior commitment and extends the device's utility for creative and productive tasks. The dual-camera FaceTime capability leverages the hardware's dual-screen design for enhanced video communication. Expanding Siri AI language support and integrating third-party AI watermarking (SynthID) indicate Apple's broader push toward AI-enhanced features across its ecosystem.
